Most of the time in art class students students choose what they will create, however sometimes there are "have to's".  This is an example of a fifth  grade assignment.  Students read one of the artist biographies from Mike Venezia's illustrated artist series.  The assignment was to read about the artist and recreate one of the two dimensional works in three dimensions.
